Manchester United to Pay fines for Manager

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay £60,000 in fines for manager Sir Alex Ferguson if he continues to refuse to speak to the BBC.

The United boss has not spoken to the Corporation since it aired a documentary in 2004 about his son Jason's work as an agent.
New Premier League rules brought in at the start of the season require managers to talk to broadcasting rights holders, yet Ferguson has flouted the new regulations by maintaining his stance so far this campaign.
After United's 2-2 draw with Fulham on Sunday, assistant manager Mike Phelan was sent out to talk to the BBC cameras, leaving Ferguson facing a £1,000 fine.
That figure will increase incrementally with each time he fails to comply, meaning he could face a total bill of £60,000 for the whole season.
But, according to The Sun, Ferguson himself will not be hit in the pocket with United, who have publicly backed him, willing to stump up the cash.
The Daily Mirror quoted a source as saying: "He realises the new rules mean he has to speak to the BBC but he's more than happy to pay the fines. If the BBC apologises he will re-think his stance. Until then his lips will remain sealed."
Ferguson was furious about a Panorama documentary titled Father and Son which focused on his son Jason's dealings as an agent. He accused the BBC of "breathtaking arrogance" for refusing to apologise for the "nonsense" documentary.
The Premier League board is set to meet next month to discuss Ferguson's punishment.
