After coming out of the Diary Room, where he had been called to address his behaviour, Hannington went straight to the Barnmates and apologised them as a collective before addressing Lerato individually. He told them he had a temper problem but would not use it as an excuse for his actions.
Hannington told them he would not hit a woman and he did what he did in the heat of the moment. He asked them to just hear him out even if they didn't forgive him instantly.
As Hannington made his speech, Paloma kept interrupting him but the Barnmates asked her to give him a chance to state his case until he was done.
A teary Hannington then proceeded to address Lerato individually, telling her he acted out of character and told her he "would never hit a woman".
In his apology, Hannington took responsibility for all his actions and would not blame Lerato's conduct on how he reacted to her. As Hannington finished addressing Lerato, Paloma told him he needed to apologise to all the females. She further went on to tell a story of her cousin that was "murdered" by her abusive husband.
Paloma then stormed out cursing, clearly not impressed with Hannington ignoring her.
